As a volunteer for DocFest 20 I was involved with the filming and staffing of several DocFest events.
I was lucky to be part of the team that staffed the screening of The Summit which was about the dangers of mountain climbing and was screened inside the Peak Cavern in Castleton. That was amazing! The venue worked so well.
I was also very lucky as I got to film the sessions about Producers and Producing at the Town Hall. These gave me a very interesting insight into how film producers work through their projects and how commercial channels select and commission programmes. The most interesting of the sessions was the 'What the Hell Do Producers Do?' panel discussion headed by American TV and film producer Debra Zimmerman. This gave a fascinating insight into how she, and her fellow panellists organise their projects and approach funding bodies and create their pitches.
