Work Experience: Social Media presentation 20 January 2014
The event was for teaching staff and university department staff to get together and discuss how various forms of social media could be used in the delivery of teaching and communication with students.
The event contained; posters describing the various forms of social media that are widely used and which might be considered for use within the university, talks from university staff and students regarding use of social media and then the opportunity for all the staff to come and talk to the people who presented to discuss their area of social media usage further.
I was asked to present a condensed version of my client case study presentation from the Digital Impact of Social Media module taken earlier this academic year.
My mini-presentation formed part of a larger presentation given by tutor Chris Hall which then included my part and a section presented by a representative from Venture Matrix who talked about how potential clients get involved with our Social Impact module.
For my part I was really excited to be asked to be part of the presentation as it helps me become more confident giving presentations to large groups of people that are outside of my classmates, and to sit with different groups and talk about my project.
I don't mind giving presentations, although I do get nervous when it's not my turn to talk! I am very concise and eloquent when I present, I am confident about being on stage and speaking to large groups as long as I'm the one doing the talking. The longer I have to wait to speak the more nervous and fidgety I get. This is something that I need to work on for when I'm talking to industry people. That is why getting practice at events like this is so good for me.
